Jungle Fever is a journey through the mind of photographer, image creator, graphic designer and art director, Jean Paul Goude. This dizzying excursion includes Grace Jones, Mexican and Latino dancers, Touki Smith and many more of the outlandish personalities that inspired him and his exuberant work. His collaborations with Grace Jones are the most famously iconic images depicted here. The book documents the development of these, with the aid of mock ups, collages, drawings, set designs and annotated photographs. A Cult Classic. Some minor repaired tears to back of dust jacket. Comion open Bracelet
This process results in a very delicate structure evoking the computer based approach, but also bears the mark of the process, a fine texture, remembering the grooves of wood.
These objects serve as a constant reminder of the contrast and strange harmony between Human and Technology, thus becoming a sort of amulet.
Porcelain POLO shirt by Li Xiaofeng
LACOSTE challenged Chinese artist Li Xiaofeng to create two different polos for the 2010 Holiday Collector’s Series. For both, he had to adapt his work methods slightly. For the limited edition printed polo, he chose blue and white shards with lotus and children designs from the Kangxi Period (1662 - 1772 AD) of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911 AD). The lotus grows from mud underwater to emerge as a flower, symbolising purity and rebirth. Images of babies represent fertility, as during that period the high infant mortality rate meant that people decorated ceramics with babies hoping they would be blessed with children.

Happy Sucker! Sucker! by Rafael López-Bosch
Rafael López-Bosch is an artist whose sculptures are loaded with meaning, but are also the type of pieces that will be interpreted in as many ways as there are viewers. He uses humour to make complex topics more palatable. "It is important to laugh at yourself, using humour allows the realise of tension and we can see things in a different perspective." His current show, entitled The Good Times Are Killing Me, features man and beast in narratives that cannot be taken literally, but must be digested slowly in order to make the most sense.

The Good Times Are Killing Me runs through September 24, 2010 at the Galeria Fucares Almagro in Almagro, Spain.
Self-Portrait by Damien Hirst
Opening at the end of the week is FYI - The Reflected Gaze - Self Portraiture Today, a group exhibition of work by several prominent artists of the day. The works on display are self-portraits, a reflection of contemporary art in its many forms (Chuck Close is depicted in a tapestry, KAWS in a series of bronze busts, and Damien Hirst by the seemingly obligatory skull). In addition to marking time and place, the self-portrait reveals some mystery and places the viewer in a conversation with the artist. The works of art shown in this exhibition cover a wide range of media and styles; the Torrance Art Museum website is indicative of a strong show.
